If you're ever lucky enough
to
cruise the FL Keys on a motorcycle, don't fail to stop
at the Carribean
Club
(MM
104 in Key
Largo).
It's
legendary. Nothing fancy
here,
just the
ultimate beach-
front biker bar. Opened in
the 20's,
it's basically
unchanged since. In 1947,
Bogart
and
Baccall made
the
classic film Key Largo
at this very bar. 50
years
later (in 1997)
Jack
Nichol-
son came
here
to
film Blood
and Wine. The Carribean
Club has seen
many a
hurricane ...and
many
wild
times of
other kinds.

When the Harley shifter fell
off
outside Key West (1,000
miles from
home),
our bad
luck
turned
to good
when
we
found Jiri Klapil, a helpful
and creative bike
mechanic
who
towed us
in (at night),
welded
up a
Harley
shifter
from
Honda
spare
parts,
and got
us
back on the road
--
all for $50
bucks.
Now that's a TRUE brother
of the road!
